2. Sourdough Blueberry Bagels with Cinnamon – Cozy Fall Breakfast Idea
Homemade sourdough bagels are becoming increasingly popular these days. Personally, I’ve never liked kneading dough, which I find strange, but when I tried it one day and realized it wasn’t that difficult — I was so intimidated anyway — and the results are totally worth it! It’s so satisfying to take a fresh batch out of the oven and bite into a warm, homemade bagel.
This will require the following items: Active sourdough starter (fed, bubbly), bread flour or all-purpose flour, water, salt, honey or maple syrup (for sweetness), ground cinnamon, dried or fresh blueberries.

Optional: Cinnamon Sugar Topping
Water + Baking Soda for Boiling
Day 1 (Mix + Bulk Ferment):
First, combine flour, water, sourdough starter, honey, and cinnamon.
Let the dough rest for a while. Slowly add salt + blueberries.
Knead and fold.
Bulk ferment at room temperature for 4-6 hours or until doubled.
Then shape into hard balls → poke holes → bagel shapes
Place on a tray, cover, and refrigerate overnight
Day 2 (Boil + Bake):
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C)
Add baking soda to water and boil for 30-60 seconds per side.
Optional: Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before baking.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
